Things to do in and around Skagit Valley in the spring

Headed to Skagit Valley to see the tulip fields? Don't miss these other attractions in and around Skagit Valley.

Every March through April Skagit Valley becomes a rainbow of color as flowers fill the fields.

Whether you are planning a day trip or an extended stay, the magic of Skagit Valley is at its peak this time of year. With this guide, we’ll help you find your way around the rest of Historic Downtown Mount Vernon with some insider tips on fun things to do, great places to eat, and shops to explore.

Where to Eat

Taste of India

Sweet people, terrific service, and exemplary North Indian cuisine. The food is made with vegetables from here in Skagit Valley, and they only use Halal meat. Try their homemade chai, yummy appetizer starters like a Pakora platter, or a plate of your favorite curry! This spot is perfect for the vegetarian or the meat eater alike, and offers dine-in or takeout options.

Temperate Habits Brewpub

This women-owned and run brewpub is new! Two former pharmacists bring their knowledge of chemistry to new levels with their microbrewery. Find a variety of delicious beverages and food items (dine-in or takeout) for the whole family in this super cozy spot right downtown. Did we mention they serve deep-fried oreos?

Where to Shop

Red Door Antique Shop

Find the antiques of your dreams in this large antique store that sits in a gorgeous, historic brick building. You’ll find anything from vintage holiday decor to beautiful wooden furniture. Stop by and find the treasure you’ve been searching for!

Kids Stuff

After the kids are done walking through the muddy flower fields, take them to the cutest independently-owned toy store right in the heart of downtown. You’ll find toys and books for all ages, and there’s no doubt the kids will be excited. It’s also right by elSage Designs, so you can pop in and say hello before heading home!

What to Do

TriDee Arts

Paint your own pottery at TriDee Arts with the family. If you don’t feel like sitting and painting pottery in-store, pick up a take home kit and do it on the next rainy day. Bring it back when you’re finished, and they’ll fire it up in the kiln for you.

This rad, independently owned art store is an artists dream. But if you’re not really into making art don’t worry-- you’ll find fun games, decor, treats and more nestled inside the coolest art store we’ve ever been in.

Skagit Riverwalk Park

Walk, ride your bike, roller skate, or picnic at the riverwalk in Historic Downtown Mount Vernon. This short trail takes you from the Northend of downtown to the Southend. Catch birds flying overhead, amazing sunsets, and stretch your legs before heading home.

There are so many other amazing eateries and shops in Downtown Mount Vernon. We hope you’ll stop by on your trip and see for yourself.
